Character Name: Rossiu Adai
Source Canon: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Community Tag: Rossiu Adai
Notes: Rossiu will slightly differ from canon (prior timeskip), and we’re gonna try and treat him as previously around, but unnoticed
Background: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurren_Lagann
Rossiu comes from perhaps a less than favourable background, but then, such isn’t that uncommon in the world anymore, is it?
An underground village, established god knows how long ago by people long dead, with a tradition that simultaneously stifled and saved them. A population that would never rise above 50, and never rise once more to the surface to see the light of day…
Yeah, that wasn’t for Rossiu. He was curious, questioning, and with a compassion that could not simply be overridden by the need for his own survival. So when mere children were called forth to go up and die upon a harsh surface? He could not bear to leave them to fend for themselves.
Funny enough then that in the final days before that, he had also met those who would be able to fend off those who would best even him. Kamina and Simon… there was no choice, he would travel with these guys!
Personality: Rossiu Adai is simultaneously a stickler for rules and common sense, as he is for acting in spite of them, though he tends to lean towards the former in a given situation. Both stem from his (albeit limited) cultural background, Addai village being a place where their priest kept a strict rule and order, with the intent of keeping them from growing beyond their means of survival, an understanding that Rossiu carries with him still. Indeed, he very much respected the ways of his village, and believed them to the point of wrong assumption when the others first arrived from the world above…
Yet if something seemed off to him, he had the drive to question. The supposed necessity of leaving two people to practically die above ground, the divinity of their ‘face god’… It just took a touch from the outside world for him to act on this in any real fashion.
Now, his main goal is to make the kind of sacrifices his ‘Father’ believed in, utterly unnecessary. To this end, he is more than willing to fight with all his heart if need be, that desire for a stable, better tomorrow driving him. An idealist at his core, he believes that it’s a possibly reality, just one that will require a lot of work to get to. His belief in the human spirit to achieve this end, with or without gods to aid them, has been solidified in his mind by the likes of Kamina and the White Chalice crew. The death of the former has certainly hit him hard, but he takes it as a sign and opportunity to live by that man’s example, rather than wallowing in the depths of despair. Certainly, he might not be as… eccentric, as Kamina was, and he’d much rather try to keep things sane where possible… but he’ll try to be a worthy successor as the pilot of Gurren!
Just… maybe some things could change. After all, with his end dream of a stable and ideal world for the human race – or more specifically, his village – Rossiu has put some time and thought into understanding how such a world would need to work. Sure, sure, he hasn’t exactly been able to devote his life or anything to it yet, so he’s far from getting obsessed over it. But he realises, unlike some, that there’s gonna need to be regulation and order… and most of the Gurren crew isn’t really qualified for that. He might just have to take control and keep things straight, if they get out of hand…
Capabilities and Resources: Rossiu’s only real uses is that he’s marginally okay at cooking – taking up something of an interest once exposed to a world where any food at all wasn’t a blessing in itself – and has enough willpower, perhaps to the surprise of some, to move the Gurren. Plus perhaps being relatively sane around some of the… zanier characters, from team Dai-Gurren.
Robot Name: Gurren
Robot Description: ‘Inherited’ in a fashion from Kamina – or rather, because Rossiu technically had the most experience with it after the caped figure himself – the Gurren is something of an odd machine. Three beastmen machines were cobbled together in what can be best described as a big, red face, which incidentally sports a massive pair of pointed sunglasses, not unlike Kamina’s own. Comparable to a bulky mobile suit in terms of size, it is a surprisingly agile and dextrous machine, albeit its cobbled together nature meaning that it actually possesses no weapons of its own – save for the sunglasses it wears, which can be used in place of a sword. Its greatest potential advantage, though only really ever shown when combined to make Gurren Lagann, is the ability to harness spiral power, with further and further heights making the laws of physics weep and kicking ‘impossible’ in the balls.

Flagship Name: The Arc Gurren
Flagship Description: Whilst it currently waits, resting beneath the heart of Lordgenome’s power, the Arc Gurren is the remnant of a forgotten age, when men once waged war across the cosmos in the name of their freedom. But it was a war that was lost, and with one of the greatest fleets ever to set sail reduced to the most minimal of forces. But ‘minimal’ as it might seem by comparison, the Arc Gurren on its own terms is still an immensely powerful vessel. Or at least, it can be. Its power lies in spiral energy, generated and driven by either its pilots, or by passengers it might carry within. With their spirit and passion, Arc Gurren can rival almost any ship in the stars – through their despair and fear, it would quickly find itself crippled. But there is another way for it to fight…

What was it that Kamina always said? To kick reason to the curb and do the impossible…?
Wait, no, maybe he didn’t always say it after all – just a few memorable times and… Wait, no, he was getting lost in his own thoughts.
“Ah!” The brown ponytail that stuck out from the back of Rossiu’s head shook slightly as he threw both arms forward, moving the odd handlebars that controlled Gurren. The red giant fell in a sprawl of a jump behind a large rock, seeking cover as ridiculously oversized gunfire began to pepper its surroundings. Rossiu briefly popped out the top of the Gurren’s head-body to try and spot his enemies, only have to duck back as a large shell came flying past. It exploded on the distant landscape in great spectacle, causing a bead of sweat to drop from the boy’s brow, relieved that he hadn’t tried to take that head on.
“Please they don’t have another one of those…” He exasperated, only to pause and just stare for a few moments as he heard a distant, whistling sound…
“OH COME ON!” With a desperate expression of haste upon its face, the Gurren ran like hell out from its cover, subsequently being blasted clear off its feet by sheer scale of the explosion that erupted behind it. The machine rolled until it came to an awkward, and somewhat painful halt, Rossiu left wondering just how the heck he hadn’t fallen out of his seat… given he was now stuck upside down and all.
“I will never understand this thing…” The boy groaned, before blinking and then narrowing his gaze as a screen popped up… showing that the enemy Gunman was in fact now reloading. Only two shots before it needed to that, huh?
“Then there’s a chance!” The enemy certainly wasn’t being fast, efficient, or even careful about the matter, which gave Rossiu an advantage. With him moving the controls, the Gurren quickly hopped back up onto its feet, and began a mad dash towards the enemy. The ground shook and trembled as Gurren leapt into the air, where a screaming Rossiu had drawn its signature sunglasses.
“ROSSIU REAPER!” And with a dramatic cry, he brought the sharp, black edge down upon the enemy, cleaving it in two. Watching as the machine split apart, Rossiu then made the Gurren turn, looking away from its fallen foe as it placed the manly specs back where they belonged.
“That was… cool, maybe?” Rossiu had been contemplating making some kind of… special move for himself, like the kind others had – it seemed to put him rather out of place otherwise.
KABOOM
Then again, maybe something that left him close enough to get caught up in large explosions wasn’t such a good idea…
